Located at the second largest coral reef in the world, Roatan offers fabulous Scuba Diving. The Islands that make up the bay Islands of Honduras have some of the most spectacular underwater views in the world. Scuba Diving in Roatan brings you close to a variety of corals and marine life characterized by eye-catching colors and shapes.

Roatan is surrounded by a variety of diving resorts in order to meet all your Diving needs. These resorts offer wreck diving, night diving, scuba lessons and certifications, all provided by trained multi lingual personnel and PADI diving, well-equipped companies. Aside from this, Roatan also offers independent diving operators that make it possible for your diving to be not only enjoyable but also very affordable.


The most popular of these diving resorts are located in West End and West Bay. Two of them are authorized PADI centers: Ocean Connections, & Pura Vida, in West End, and are consequently the most trustworthy. Other good options are Sueño del Mar Divers, West End Divers and Las Rocas, these last two located West Bay.

There are a number of different Dive sites available in Roatan:

Calvin's Crack

Located above a shallow reef facing a wall. Runs through the reef along narrows, widening to an exit along the outer wall.

Spooky Channel

Deeper diving site, a former river valley formed this channel which opens to the barrier reef at 100 feet with a superb cathedral-like view. The side walls of the channel rise up to almost touch each other but they still allow some light for illumination.

Barbareta Wall

The unoccupied island of Barbareta, located 3 miles offshore from Roatan, offers undiscovered reefs replete with coral gardens, a remarkable mile-long wall; the wall is a continuous drop-off that often offers great pelagic encounters.

West End Wall

An amazing cliff borders a deep blue abyss, with pillar corals, Azure Vase and barrel Sponges.

Enchanted Forest and Insidious Reef

Located west of Romeo's Resort, these two dives are part of a bigger reef linked to an offshore bank. The drop-off begins from a sequence of rolling reefs that drop to 70' - 80'.

Connie's Dream

A short distance from Romeo's Resort, this inclined drop-off offerz tube and vase sponges. It is composed of a seemingly never-ending scheme of tall coral heads and deep sand channels that fall into the abyss.

Doc's Elbow

Located in front of the entrance channel to Brick Bay Resort, this popular night dive offers divers a variety of life, including octopus, reef crabs and lobsters.

Mary's Place

This one is possibly the most popular dive site off Roatan, the dive starts at a permanent mooring buoy on the reef shelf, along a vertical split that drops from 40'. A wide split is formed by a huge section of the wall, which is broken away from the main section.

On Barbareta Island, great for snorkeling and shallow dives

Pigeon Cays

Three islets off Barbareta's south coast, with undiscovered dive sites.

Wreck Diving - "Prince Albert"

140' tanker

Wreck Diving - "El Aguila"

210' cargo boat perfectly sunk at 100 feet of water on a sandy bottom full of Deep Garden Eels. It has been adapted for penetration diving so you can descend onto open large compartments where you can surprise a number of fish in their homes. Adjacent to the boat runs the wall to finish off the dive among the shallow water tropical fish.
