Roatan is one of the most popular islands that make up The Bay Islands of Honduras. Located only 40 miles northeast of Honduras, these islands have a very unique world to offer different from that of mainland Honduras. Climate in Roatan stays pretty constant throughout the year. During springtime the temperatures are in the 80s and during the summertime in the 90s with increasing humidity. The showers caused by Honduras’s rainy season allow the temperatures to stay cool.

Transportation to Roatan is not a problem. Coming from mainland Honduras, from the City of “La ceiba” is the ferry M.V Galaxy wave. The ferry takes two daily trips from La Ceiba to Roatan, and the trip takes about one and a half hours. This is a very comfortable ride with A/C, video movies, and snacks. Flying to Roatan is also an option. If traveling from within Honduras, this service is available through several airlines: Islena airlines, Sosa Airlines and Atlantic Airlines. If traveling internationally, TACA International Airlines offers direct non stop jet service to Roatan from Miami and Houston, and Continental Airlines is providing non stop flights to Roatan from Houston twice a week, and Delta Airlines now offers non stop service from Atlanta to Roatan once a week on Saturdays.
Transportation within the island is also readily available. Paved roads connect the most important parts of the island. Going from the Western End of the Island, at the community of West End, through the communities of Sandy Bay, Coxen Hole, Brick Bay, Mount Pleasant, French Harbour and Oakridge - Punta Gorda. From this point on, the road becomes a dirt road and continues east to the area of Paya Bay, Camp Bay, Port Royal, and other communities.
